The Bangladeshi Women’s Organisation was established in 1989. For its founder members, Ahmed’s death was a catalyst that brought women together, highlighting the need for greater cooperation and an organised response to discrimination. Since 1997 Ananna has operated from its own building on Dickenson Road in Longsight. Advice workers help women of all backgrounds to access public services and legal support. Clients also benefit from various classes and social gatherings.
