Untold Histories is a project to lend resources to school and community groups. These resources document the contributions of African, Asian and Caribbean people to the history of Britain. Boxes contain books, tapes and posters designed for young people and available on free loan to schools, youth clubs and community groups. The resources in Untold Histories give voice to the real stories of Black people in Britain. It could be Olaudah Equiano, who fought against slavery in eighteenth century Britain. Dadabhai Naoroji , Britain ’s first Asian Member of Parliament, elected in 1892. Malorie Blackman, the very successful author of children’s books today. The building of community institutions, the struggle against racism and the experiences of refugees are all documented in the collection. These personal and community histories challenge the lack of knowledge and understanding of Black people’s place in Britain.
