Equiano, Son of Africa…..
£3.99
Equiano, Son of Africa…..fills a gap in the available literature about Black British heroes.
It tells the story of Olaudah Equiano, a major figure in the 18th century abolitionist movement in Britain. Kidnapped and enslaved from his home in Africa, Equiano was able to buy his freedom in 1766. He became involved in abolition campaigning and published his “Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, the African” in 1789.
This book tells the story of Equiano’s life in accessible language. It is designed for primary school children and was written in conjunction with two Manchester primary schools with children contributing the poems and the drawings.
