Anansi Makes it Happen
£6.50
Anansi the spider-man is a trickster figure in West African and Caribbean folklore. Anansi stories originated among the Akan-Ashanti people of modern Ghana, and the tradition travelled to the Americas with enslaved Africans. Anansi Makes It Happen is the latest of our folk-tale books for children, produced in projects developed by the Education Trust with Manchester schools. This book project involved two schools: St Philip’s in Hulme and St James’ in Gorton. The children retold and illustrated two Anansi stories: ‘Why Spider Lives in Ceilings’ and ‘How Crab Got a Hard Back’.
Written and illustrated by: Year 3 pupils from St James' CE Primary School, Gorton, Manchester and Year 6 pupils from St Phillip's CE Primary School, Hulme, Manchester.
