Voices in Print: Women Making a Zine

Tuesday 3rd March 2026, 5pm-7:30pm

Performance Space, Central Library

Celebrate International Women’s Day with a creative zine-making workshop. Inspired by Size 8 Magazine created by Manchester women in the 80’s, reimagined by women today.

Join us for a hands-on zine making workshop led by Seleena Laverne Daye, textile artist and zine maker. We will be exploring Size 8 magazine, a powerful snapshot of women’s voices, creativity, and resistance which we will use as a starting point for our own creative responses.

Through relaxed and thought-provoking activities, we will open up conversations around the issues that affect women and marginalised genders today.

Alongside the magazine, we will share a rich selection of material from the Marilyn Cuffy collection, including poetry and writing by women, policies, and work produced by women-led collectives from across Manchester. This is a space to connect, create, and celebrate women’s voices both past, present, and future.

Come as you are, no prior experience needed. Bring your curiosity and leave with something uniquely yours.

We are offering travel expenses to anyone who needs it and can provide language translation to support with access.

Food and refreshments will be provided, and we have plans in place to support anyone observing Ramadan.

Please note, this workshop has an age restriction of 18+ and is open to anyone who identifies as a woman, including transwomen and non-binary people.
