On Friday 21st February we will be celebrating International Mother Language Day with Archives+ and various schools and community groups from around Manchester.
The event aims to bring people together to showcase their cultural performances and traditional crafts in celebration of our multilingual city of Manchester.
Language is the key part of one of our collections: our unique oral histories. For many years now the AIU Centre has been working with communities and individuals to record and preserve these stories, with the hope that others can enjoy and learn from them.
As part of this event, a number of our oral histories will be available for you to listen to in the form of short extracts that talk about the importance of Mother Language.
Come along and hear the stories!
